The project aim is to develop the technology for five types of warm mixed asphalt, which is currently changing the applied hot mixed asphalt production technology, to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, to reduce energy consumption without reducing of the product (asphalt paving) quality indicators. The project plans to develop technology to replace the hot mixed asphalt production (the production temperature 145 - 180oC), with a warm mixture asphalt (production temperature 100 - 140oC) production, providing a thermalenergy resource savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions. To ensure the quality of warm mixed asphalt production it is necessary to add chemical additives. The research of the lead foreign research institutions and industry experience will be curried out during the project to develop detailed descriptions of manufacturing technologies. Afterwards will be carried out experimental designs to determine the choice of the best chemical additives available on the market and the proportions of addition to the mixtures containing Latvian available local raw materials. The project is innovative in Latvia, because a similar experiment to date has not yet been performed. Reducing energy consumption, will be developed technology that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions about 30%. Total duration of the project implementation is15 months. Project will realize lead partner Ltd. "A Pieci", in collaboration with SIA “Celu eksperts" which is a certified laboratory for road constructions. |
